#38 Do a First Friday Artwalk
In Denver, we have several little art districts that, on the first Friday of the month, offer a First Friday Artwalk. All the galleries are open to the public and you have a chance to browse around and meet the artists. The largest of the artwalks is in the Santa Fe Art District, so that's the one we chose to do. I had no idea how many little galleries there were in this three-block area! Tricia and I had such a fun night walking from gallery to gallery, checking out the art and talking with some of the artists. A few of the galleries were selling wine by the glass, which is always a plus in my book! We had a great time and I will definitely do this again.

Completely Random Post
I have two computer monitors on my desk at work and taped to each one is a different fortune cookie fortune. I found the first one on the kitchen table at the office (I had to qualify it that way because I don't want anyone to think that I would actually eat at Panda Express) and it's definitely something I try to live by every day.
I got the second one at Tao restaurant in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, and it cracks me up every time I look at it. The funny thing is that it rings just as true as the other one. ;-)

#41 Go to Seven Falls
Seven Falls in Colorado Springs has been called the "grandest mile of scenery in Colorado" and somehow, I had never been there. So, a couple of weekends ago, Amanda and I took off on a day trip to the Springs. The waterfall is 181 feet, and has seven distinct sections, hence the name. (Clever, huh?) What I was not prepared for was the 224-step stairway, on the side of a cliff, that you had to climb to get to the top. I'm not usually afraid of heights, but this scared the living shit out of me. You can see the stairs on the left in this picture.
Please excuse the lack of make-up and the terrified look on my face in this picture. This was halfway up the stairs, around the time I said to Amanda, "I don't know how I'm going to get back down."
The view was beautiful, though.
When we got back down the stairs, I seriously wanted to pull a Pope and kiss the ground. You have no idea how badly my legs were shaking while this picture was being taken.
While we were in the Springs, we also did a tour of Cave of the Winds, which Amanda had never been to. I love this place, and I was surprised at how well the pictures turned out.
Thanks to Amanda for a fun day and for helping me knock another one off my list!

I'm Not Ready!
I just learned that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are now available at Starbucks. Usually, I'm very excited for this day because it means that Fall, which is my favorite season, is on its way. However, this year, I'm not ready for Fall yet. The Summer of Rhonda has generated countless fun memories for me, and I'm not ready for it to end. I'm going to desperately cling to each one of the last days of Summer.

A Trip to San Diego
I recently met my friend Steve, who lives near Los Angeles, in San Diego for a weekend getaway. I had never been to California before, so I was pretty damn excited about this trip.
On Friday, we explored the Gaslamp Quarter. We had lunch at a little Thai place, walked a few blocks and got some gelato, walked a few more blocks and got a glass of wine. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time checking everything out.
Then we drove to the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club for a day at the races. I was so happy that Steve came up with this idea, because we had a blast. He tried to teach me how to read the statistics in order to pick a horse, but I stuck with my tried and true method...go by the name. It turned out to be just as good a method as his, because neither one of us won anything. It was kind of pathetic, but we still had fun.
On the weekends, after the last race of the day, Del Mar has a free concert series, and the band the night we were there was The B-52s, who I LOVE.
On Saturday, we checked out the San Diego Museum of Art and their special Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit.
After the museum, we walked around beautiful Balboa Park for a while.
Then, we went back to the hotel for some pool time before we had to get ready for our dinner reservation. Seriously, life cannot get any better than when you are poolside in the California sunshine, with a fruity drink in your hand and a hot boy by your side. I was in heaven! This is probably my favorite picture from the whole trip...taken with my Blackberry in the bathroom mirror as we got ready for dinner.
Speaking of dinner, one thing that we were really good at on this trip was picking restaurants. Every dinner that we had was over-the-top fantastic. On Thursday, it was Harney Sushi, which was Steve's pick. I'm usually a purist when it comes to sushi, but I have to say, this place was great and the Captain Mitch roll blew me away. Friday was Sevilla, which we randomly picked while wondering through the Gaslamp, starving at 11:00 pm after a long day; it turned out to be one of the best meals I've ever had. Saturday was my pick, and I chose Bencotto for Italian. Good Lord, it was fantastic! If you're ever in San Diego, I would highly recommend any of these restaurants.
After brunch on Sunday, we did a tour of Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, before I had to get to the airport. This park has only been open for 6 years, and it's beautiful!

STP Show/Visit from Michael
My dear friend Michael made a quick trip to Denver to go to the Stone Temple Pilots concert with me. We both LOVE STP, so to go to a show together, at Red Rocks, was a very special experience. After picking him up from the airport, the drinking quickly commenced on the rooftop of The Tavern Downtown. Me, Michael and Amanda:
After making the hike up to Red Rocks (poor Michael is from Houston and thought he was going to need a sherpa in order to get to the top), the drinking continued. The picture is a little blurry because it was taken with my Blackberry.
If you have never been to a concert at Red Rocks, you just may as well have never been to a concert at all. It's considered to be the most beautiful venue in the world, and every time I go, I'm still in awe. Sorry this picture of the rock isn't better.
Our seats were in the 9th row and we just could not have been more excited. It was hands down one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and being there with Michael made it even better.

#60 Go To Afternoon Tea at The Brown Palace
The Brown Palace is a beautiful, historic hotel in downtown Denver and afternoon tea at The Brown Palace is a long-standing Denver tradition. I decided to recruit my sister-in-law Tricia to accompany me, as she has had tea at The Brown Palace a few times. It was fun to get all dressed up and spend a girlie day with Tricia, drinking tea and eating scones and finger sandwiches.

#63 See a Game at Wrigley Field
First, I will get my rant out of the way. Cubs fans are the rudest fans I have ever encountered! There is an unwritten rule of etiquette when you are attending a professional sporting event: you don't get out of or return to your seat until there is a stoppage in play. Cubs fans have either never heard of this, or they just plain don't give a shit. I have attended NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB games in six different cities, and I have never experienced anything like this. Not only do they meander around in the stands while the ball is in play, but they will also just stand right in front of you, chit chatting away. Two women even stood directly in front of me, while there was a batter at the plate, and played rock, paper, scissors to determine who was going to sit in the aisle seat! I can tell you that you would never get away with that at Coors Field because there is an usher at the end of every aisle who will make you wait to return to your seat until there is a stoppage in play.
Now, the good part...it's freakin' Wrigley Field, people! I can't tell you how long I've waited to see a game at Wrigley, and I was finally there!
We had a beer on a rooftop bar before the game.
